Cool. Cycle. Connects.

Cycling is a mode of transportation which is least common these days but it is environment friendly. It doesn’t consume fossil fuel and at the same time it helps you stay fit. It is now emerging as hobby or leisure activity. Cycling has more benefits than any other motor vehicle for short distances, so when you are travelling short distance you should cycle!
One important reason to cycle is , when we use a cycle for communication it contributes to our health. Cycling helps you lose weight (500 calories per hour), and helps you avoid heart and lung diseases in the future. It is also an effective way of building stamina and improves cardiovascular fitness. “Boris Bikes” is the London cycle hire scheme which was brought up by Boris Johnson (the mayor of London). There have been 726,893 trips in November 2013 and has reached 1.6 million trips in August 2012; research published in the British Medical Journal found that the positive effects were greatest for older user. In my opinion cycling can help all age groups be fit and make the world a more fit place. Imagine when you are fit, imagine the day when you are super slim, imagine that day when you could feel the breeze in your face. Do you want to be the poor black sheep in your family, the only person who is fat? Would you still want to be fat?
In the same manner, when cycling is used as a mode of transportation you save time and reduce traffic congestions. In my opinion cycling can save a lot of time for you when you cycle short distances. A cycler who rides 8km to work, four days a week, avoids 3220 km of driving a year. “For short distances, a bicycle is often the most sustainable choice of transport”, stated Andrew Einspruch the author of Using Energy to Get Around. As we know about the “boris bikes’’, can you imagine how many cars would be on the road in August 2012. Imagine no traffics on the road, imagine no honking on the roads except from sweet melodious bells, imagine not thinking about parking. Would you want a world where everything is crowded, noisy? Would you want to be thinking about parking the whole day?
Similarly, you should cycle more because you are contributing to save the environment. It is a better option than other vehicles as, at the rate of fossil fuel we are consuming, we will run out within this century. Cycling is an ideal means of transportation for environmentally conscious people. Cycles do not make any hazardous carbon emission, and doesn’t require the burning of any type of fossil fuel. All the cycle needs is a willing heart who enjoys the beauty of his surrounding while he rides to work or runs an errand on his cycle. Besides ensuring greener and healthier environment, adopting cycling as a hobby also serves to reduce noise pollution commonly present in metro cities. I believe that cycling will refresh our environment and provide cleaner air. Imagine less roadworks. Imagine reduced delays, Imagine not getting late. Would you like a world like that or the opposite?
Thus, cycling is better choice for commuting short distances. It benefits the health of individual and helps in minimizing the pollution. If we all know that cycling is better than other vehicles for short distances as it is faster, saves time, reduce road congestions and is environmentally friendly, then why don’t we use it? If we don’t cycle today there won’t be a bright future, each cycle counts!
